Re: NBA

OKC deal James Harden to Houston.

OKC also send Cole Aldrich, Daequan Cook and Lazar Hayward to the Rockets in return for Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb, 2 1st round picks and a 2nd rounder.

Weird deal.

Ok, malice I've made another list of my power for this years NBA season and this team dont stop reading it when you get to number two. This list is not based on the results of the first games of the season but it is based on how all of the teams look right now.

2. Los Angeles Clippers (bench)
3. San Antonio Spurs
4. Boston Celtics
5. Los Angeles Lakers ( with Princeton offense )
6. Oklahoma City Hunder
7. Philadelphia 76ers
8. Indiana Pacers
9. Denver Nuggets

11. Brooklyn Nets
12. Utah Jazz
13. Memphis Grizzlies
14. Chicago Bulls

16. Golden State Warriors
17. New York Knicks
18. Minnesota Timberwolves
19. New Orleans Hornets
20. Detroit Pistons
21. Portland Trail Blazers
22. Milwaukee Bucks
23. Phoenix Suns
24. Dallas Mavericks
25. Sacramento Kings
26. Toronto Raptors
27. Washington Wizards

I cannot care about, nor take seriously a ranking by someone that so obviously has no ability whatsoever to be even remotely objective.
The Los Angeles Clippers are not at all a top 5 team, much less #2.

You want to be taken seriously, get your foam-at-the-mouth Clipperfandom off: and then ask me what I think.  At the moment, I just got to #2, laughed, read no further... and decided to rip you.

Well... obviously passions are riding high at the moment after Harden's excellent game 1.  And I'm prepared to admit that if he continues even 75% along that vein then I'm obviously wrong.
But I still don't think he's a true #1.  Still... he is worth what he's paid - I believe that's his market value (even if I don't think he's *worth* that per se).
I believe that Houston would be better off truly bottoming out.

For OKC, they wrecked their continuity... and there's no way on earth they are as good this season.  Martin is definitely on the downward slide of his career, and even at his peak he wasn't Harden's equal.

You're still delusional.
3. San Antonio Spurs

Maybe.
5. Los Angeles Lakers ( with Princeton offense )
Fine.
6. Oklahoma City Hunder
Fine.
7. Philadelphia 76ers

8. Indiana Pacers
Not high enough.
9. Denver Nuggets
Fine.
10. Houston Rockets
Delusional.
11. Brooklyn Nets
Fine.
12. Utah Jazz
What are you smoking?
13. Memphis Grizzlies
Fine.
14. Chicago Bulls
Fine.
15. Atlanta Hawks
Probably too high.
16. Golden State Warriors
Is there any reasoning to this list? Too high.
17. New York Knicks
Too low.
18. Minnesota Timberwolves
Probably fine, given the injuries.
19. New Orleans Hornets
Too high.
20. Detroit Pistons
Fine.
21. Portland Trail Blazers
Fine.
22. Milwaukee Bucks
Fine.
23. Phoenix Suns
Probably about right, unfortunately.
24. Dallas Mavericks
Yep.
25. Sacramento Kings
Too high.
26. Toronto Raptors
Maybe too low.
27. Washington Wizards
Fine.
28. Cleveland Cavaliers
Too low. Kyrie's better than you think.
29. Charlotte Bobcats
Knock 'em down one...
30. Orlando Magic
Too low. They didn't put together a D-League team like Charlotte did... they'll still win some games.

There you go. I'd be interested to see your reasoning behind your rankings... might actually be able to convince some of us that you haven't just stolen one of the nurse's smart phones at the mental hospital. If I could make an argument for Phoenix making the playoffs (trust me, I can), you can make an argument for at least some of these picks you've made.

I think it puts OKC in a slightly different direction, but they have enough to cope, I think. Maynor's back, and Martin's in, so by committee they've essentially replaced what he brings. And, to be honest, with this move they easily have the longest window for contention in the league. They might have needed Harden to put them over the top, or might not, but now they'll be in a position financially to keep the KD-Westbrook-Ibaka trio together for a lot longer than if they'd kept Harden. On top of that, they now have two of the better prospects from this year's draft, Lamb and Jones III... no doubt what Presti is doing is a risk, but his track record is pretty good so far... it wouldn't surprise me if Jones or Lamb (or Jones + Lamb) turn out to be more valuable than Harden, or failing that, at least comparable.

Also, last thing - K-Mart and KD on the same team. Holy free throws, Batman! I don't think K-Mart is as much of a downgrade as people are suggesting.

Re: NBA

I really don't like even the concept of "replacement by committee".  Because it's impossible to do that.  You can't have 6 guys on the floor, so even the notion of Maynor/Martin replacing Harden is built on a falsity.
FTs... sure.  He can shoot 'em.
But he hasn't hit 45% (or better) on field goals in 7 years.  Last season he was 41%.  Even people talking about his game today.  Dear god, he hit 4-10.

I don't blame OKC for not keeping Harden... if anything I blame Harden for not buying into the OKC way of thinking.  Everyone there is on a contract that's significantly less than their market value.  Every significant player there understands that they're sacrificing in the hope for a greater good (title?).
Not that I can really blame Harden for wanting what everyone wants.  More.  But I can't help thinking that years later, he might regret this.

Oh... and lestatpierer?  No.  It's not that I "disagree with you on the Clippers"... it's that you're flat-out wrong.
If you're not taking it seriously, why should I?

What dou mean I'm not taking it seriously? I am. A couple of months ago I said that 90% of the people living in LA would take the Lakers over the Clippers and you thought that it was even more than that. You're probably. I'm just saying what I believe. The Clippers will take on the Lakers tonight. Well see who has the better team and chemistry.

Re: NBA

It's only the second game of the season and I know that just because a team wins one game against the Lakers doesn't mean they are good but I'll just say that the Clippers looked pretty solid tonight. Paul had 14 assists and Crawford scored 21 points. I'm not saying that this means anything but I'll stick with my prediction.

Re: NBA

I don't really buy into the idea of rankings in the first weeks of any season. The teams with a lot of new pieces are going to look bad/awkward, and the ones with few/minor new pieces will look better.

I'm just glad we will have a full season of real basketball to enjoy. Not that shortened season fuster cluck.

I know. The rankings I put together aren't based on what I think will happen this season. They're based on what I think this season will look like.

If you refuse to look at it objectively, then the entire premise is forfeit.  You want people to read it, be objective.  Otherwise, it's a complete waste of time.

I'm not trying to get everyone to read my posts but when the season is over I wanna have proof that I predicted the correct results. We have been arguing for over 3 months now and I'm getting tired of it. Wait until the end of the first half of the season and well see how the standings look. I know that most people (according to you everyone) would disagree but I still believe that the Clippers will be on top of the west when the season is over.
