Re: Modern Warfare 2.

The lady started talking about how there was a line starting at 8 with face painting, a DJ, and games. I was like yeah ok lady I  have a life and it's a damn video game.

People are over exagerating it so much, it's not going to be that great. They added way too much in my opinion.

Yeah. I'm just gonna go pick it up sometime Tues when I wake up. I looked at the guy and was like do I really look like the type to have a slumber party at Gamestop for a game? and he said no lol.

Re: Modern Warfare 2.

I did the midnight release of the 360 and it was highly overrated...gamestop did have a BBQ and a tent full of CPU games set up but i was just eager to get the 360 right away....which led to a lame ass weekend full of Perfect Dark because the games i had reserved were pushed back....

Re: Modern Warfare 2.

No midnight release for me since I'll be getting the game in the mail. I'll probably end up getting it a day or 2 after the release date.

Re: Modern Warfare 2.

As I've gotten older, I've established  a don't pay more than $20 for a game rule.  Thus, I'll be waiting.  I just got COD 4 last week and have been very impressed by the 1 player campaign.  Multiplayer is decent so far, though I haven't experimented with modes other than team deathmatch so far.  I'll say this, the one area I think the game falls down in is not including a option to play the campaign in co-op.  I hear this is being addressed in the sequel, which is awesome.

Re: Modern Warfare 2.

I may be wrong, but I thought Co-op was available, just not through Xbox Live. If that's the case, to be fair that wasn't available in too many games two years ago. Halo 3 and Gears are the only ones in the genre I can really recall that allowed it.

Rainbow Six has been doing campaign co-op since 1997.

I have COD4 on the PC, and like I said, I haven't explored full multiplayer options yet.  I didn't see co-op as a readily apparent option though.

Re: Modern Warfare 2.

Ah, PC. That'd be why. I was under the impression you were referring to console versions.

I don't think they put much effort into the PC version at all. Just churned it out as quick as possible to compete in that market. PC gamers don't seem to expect much from campaigns anymore though.

Re: Modern Warfare 2.

They completely neutered MW2 for the PC. No dedicated servers, no console, etc.

Pat led the passing with 7 assists, and his usual steady defensive play held the opposing first squad to no double-digit point getters. He was heard running down the court screaming "If I can't score, you won't either!"

There's a 50% chance of getting either live or die. Obviously you're more likely to die, but if there are two options there is a 50% chance of getting either. -SH

CoD: WaW has co-op if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Modern Warfare 2.

I've never understood why anyone would play a FPS game with a controller.  FPS were made to be experienced with a mouse.

The lack of dedicated servers is disturbing....However, even for games with dedicated servers on the PC, a huge number of individual servers pop up.  Mostly because people want to have control over the environment.  I've noticed that COD4's number of private servers is really quite extensive.  I still think companies ought to provide some in order to have some control over what is deemed to be the "pure" experience, but I imagine there will be plenty of private servers around before too long.

Re: Modern Warfare 2.

It's just a different experience with a controller than it is with a mouse. Lot more challenging to aim.

Though to be honest, PC gamers are dwindling as time goes on. There's a lot of gamers now a days who have never even played a game on the PC, never mind an FPS.

It's going to be completely P2P. If private servers do crop up, they'll probably be illegal.

Re: Modern Warfare 2.

As with Tesche I generally have a pretty low $/game limit but once a year I let a little extra cash stumble out of my pocket. My connection to this type of game dates back to GR2 (Ghost Recon 2 not gym rat tongue) on XBC so MW2 is going to be that game for me this year

Re: Modern Warfare 2.

Dante's Inferno is iffy for me, but I did preorder L4D2 already. Only game I've really got interest in, other than ODST, which I refuse to spend so much money on.
