Re: Just Ask Axe

Axe - apologies if this is well known. Do you and/or Dr Nick have active players in the game on teams? I don't need to know (or particularly care) which players they are or which team they are on but it would be good to know if you are experiencing 1st hand perhaps what some of the frustrations being presented here.

cheers

@Dr Nick- thanks for that response it was a text book politician response.  No answer given but time was taken up in the attempt to confuse everyone!!

All and all this is good what you are both doing and it opens the lines of communication between community and moderators which I always felt didn't happen enough.  I suppose the next step after the 'tidy up' you are referring to is actually putting formalised responses and action points for any suggestions.  Either 1) Not going ahead or 2) This is a idea that we are discussing and in 7 days we will have a response etc etc.

That's not entirely fair. I thought my answer was pretty straightforward. Kaz is the only one able to give more formalized responses to suggestions. The mod staff, for the most part (ie: unless we hear directly from Kaz ourselves before he posts it himself), can't.

I assure you that we experience the same issues that everyone else that plays this game does.

Re: Just Ask Axe

If a system had to go in to place to change base numbers in some way (height, adding/subtracting points/etc.), what is the best way to do it in your opinion?

Um in my opinion (i know ur not talking to me lol) i would let you change your main stat and secondary stat. Like if you were a guard and had 60 bh and like 30 leadership (just making numbers up.) You could just switch bh and leadership so leadership is 60. Then maybe switch your other stats around. I dont think you should be able to stack all of your stats tho.

He is talking about base numbers, not trained points

I have absolutely no idea. Where's the fun in telling you outright?

Damn. Difficult question.
Shutting this down so I can think about it!

Re: Just Ask Axe

Open again.

@Crashburn_ -- I'll preface this by stating that I think the basic premise of the game is very, very solid.  Now, I think that perhaps having a slight amount of flexibility in player creation might be a good addition. Perhaps being able to steal a few points from one attribute to give to another, but with an inherent penalty -- example, taking 2 points from rebounding gives you 1 point to put somewhere else.
Just a thought, and with the understanding that it would make the player creation more difficult from a dev standpoint.

Re: Just Ask Axe

Has there been any thought/talk about lowering the attribute cap again to promote diverse training and strategy?

Not as yet, but that is something that's definitely an interesting idea. I will bring it up.

Re: Just Ask Axe

Would it be helpful for someone (me) to write up a suggestion along those lines while procrastinating from doing my actual work?  I don't want to derail this thread too much tongue

At this point, it would only be a suggestion (and I'll run my above idea by Kaz). There are other things that are higher on the list of priorities.

Re: Just Ask Axe

However, as far as suggestions go, that is probably the easiest thing ever to implement....Just change one value in the code...

Re: Just Ask Axe

Have any of the mods ever heard of Gratis Pay? Has this ever been an option for future premium?

As far as my suggestion goes, perhaps so. If Kaz thinks it's something he'd like to run with and could be easily implemented then it might just appear quickly.

No on both counts. That's not to say it will never be, but just that it's currently not being discussed. Nor, I imagine, will it be discussed. Payment is Kaz's realm, not ours.

Re: Just Ask Axe

Has there been any talk about making "sim value" (as I like to call it) a known entity in the game in an official manner?  In other words, any chance of making some of the best greasemonkey scripts official?  I often try to help newer teams/captains, and explaining the game can be very difficult without this understanding.

There has been no talk, and I'd hazard a guess that "sim value" is perhaps something that should be kept a secret. Again, this is only my perspective, but if the game becomes a very accurate number crunching exercise, doesn't that take some of the fun out of it?
