Re: Help Section - Training Camp

I updated the original post with the following information:

REWARDS
Congratulations. You have made it through training camp and understand the many different ways to train and evolve your player and team. Now it is time to reap the benefits of all you hard work. There are several rewards that your player may obtain throughout his/her career including, Accomplishments, Nicknames and Player Awards. To view a players Awards or Accomplishments, simply click on that players name to navigate to his player page and choose the “Awards” Tab at the top of the page.

AWARDS
Awards are rewarded at the end of each regular season.  Each league has its own set of awards. Of course the ultimate goal is to be the best of the best and win a League Championship but there are individual awards you may win as well.
All Defensive Team
Awarded to the top defensive players in each league.  Steals, Blocks and Rebounds are all taken into consideration for this team.
+1 to any attribute
Court Rivals 2nd Team
This team is comprised of the best offensive and defensive players in each league whom did not make the Court Rivals 1st Team.

Re: Help Section - Training Camp

Updated the original post again. Somehow I never put Proficiencies in the original....my bad.

PROFICIENCIES

*Player Proficiencies

Player Proficiencies

If your top 3 attributes are within 20% of each other (3rd highest must be 80% or greater of highest), then you will be refunded 1 Training Credit AT THE COMPLETION of training one of your top 3 attributes.

This essentially is a way to train your player in balance. So, if your player has 100 in Passing, 90 in Rebounding and 80 in Dunking you are considered proficient and your 3 attributes will be highlighted in lime green.  Each time your training ends on one of these attribute, you get an extra Training Credit to
spend as you wish.

Proficiencies are awarded or taken away at server reset (12:00 am EST). If you become proficient in 3 attributes, you may take advantage of it until the next server reset. If you are using proficiencies as a training strategy you must be within the 80% range at each server reset.

I'm pretty sure, you mean the server reset at 12:00 am (midnight) EST.  The 5 am EST server check, is for player chemistries.

Yup, just read through the pages and pages of previous announcements and in fact the proficiencies script is run at 12:00 am EST.
Thank you to WFUnDina and Tesche for calling me out. I hate you both.

Re: Help Section - Training Camp

Would anyone be interested in helping me make an article or something like that on "sim value"?  I have had to explain it pretty often while trying to help newer players, I'd love to just be able to link to a post explaining it.

Re: Help Section - Training Camp

Here is the last one I typed up in a message.  The issue is that the information is tough to convey without clear examples, and I was in a bit of a hurry.  I think doing a compare/contrast example would illustrate nicely to newer players why you put all your skills into one area rather than spread them out.  I actually don't care so much about that, as much as I do about explaining the basics of sim value and how the sim functions.

We could also include something about distribution, and the differences between the trained attribute level and sim value.  I'd love if it someone wants to clean this up, insert better examples or just make it more clear and user friendly.

This is a crucial subject that is probably the most important thing in the game. This might take a bunch of back and forth questions, so please ask if you don't understand any of it.

Sim value is essentially how the sim works. For every point that you train, you get one point of sim value. So if you have rebounding at 100, you have 100 sim value. The real key comes from skill points and player chemistry levels. They multiply that value to get much higher numbers. So say you have rebounding at 150, with 3 skill points in above the rim (150% increase each) and a level 2 chemistry (50% per level). Your total would be 150 x 5.5 x 2 = 1650. So you can see what a difference that makes.

Top players tend to get to around 326 in their main (level 6 chem) and they use the 3 primary skill points and then 2 secondary ones (like total coverage, it is a additional 25% multiplier to that already high total). So it would be 326 x 5.5 (3 skill points in main) x 1.5 (2 secondary skill points) x 4 (level 6 chem, 50% per level) = 10758. Think of that compared to just training something to 326 without skill points or chems. That is why you put everything into one area, so you can generate the most sim value.

Now this sim value is used to play out the game. Each lineup is completely separate on the team, and your sim values are put up against your opponent's line that you are facing. Each of the 11 areas is important, so you want to have more value in as many areas as possible. This is where sliders come into play.

Sliders do not control your players actions, they simply move sim value around. Take our rebound example, the guy with 326 base and over 10,000 sim value. If he slides to 50% get back on defense, it literally takes 50% of that 10,000 and puts it towards speed. In this way one player can cover rebounds and speed in sim value for that lineup. If you have 5 players who each do that with different skills, you have a balanced team.

So the key to the game is building up players to get huge sim value numbers, and then sliding that sim value to balance your team. A user made a script that shows you the sim value for each lineup on your team, and it does all the calculations for you.

http://www.courtrivals.com/forums/viewt … 26&p=1

Check that out, you want the "team page update" script.

Re: Help Section - Training Camp

Not sure if this can be edited into the OP or not, but either way it should probably be in this thread, as these are chemistries that have since been added:

Shooting/Dunking = High Post-Low Post
Ball Handling/Dunking = Drive and Dish
Dunking/Free Throws = And 1
Passing/Free Throws = Hot Potato
Defense/Leadership = Solid D
Shooting/Ball Handling = Pick and Pop
Speed/Blocking = No Soup for You!
Blocking/Leadership = Feet on the Ground
3 Point Shooting/Ball Handling = Drive and Kick

Also, what was previously called Drive and Kick (Passing/3 Point Shooting) is now called Swing and Shoot.

Hope this helps anyone looking for all the Chem info in one place.
