I looked at the defensive team and saw some bad stuff but i thought that was ok because it is always bad. Then i looked at the second team and there was some good blockers and stealers that shouldve been on the all d team not the 2nd team.

Question.  Should Top Rebounders / Blockers / Stealers make 1st team?  If so, how about 2nd team?  No?  Then just 1st Team and All-D?  Leave rest of 1st team and all of 2nd team as all offensive-related stuff?

I ask because it seems like the order of rewards is:  1st Team > 2nd Team > All-D...  So I can see why there is a blocker/stealer on each of the 1st and 2nd team and then a couple more in All-D.

Are we saying it should be just #1 stealer, #1 blocker, #1 rebounder on 1st team ... none on 2nd team, and the rest on All-D?

That's what I would say.

Also, 1st team is tops, but 2nd team should be for offense and all-D for defense, IMO.

I'll post something in Suggestions then so mods can see, I think it's getting lost in here.  I just found Kaz's post from April when he semi-spilled the beans

Re: Season 15 First and Second Teams

I have never been one to follow the awards in this game, so would anyone mind explaining how my west player http://www.courtrivals.com/showPlayerPr … ?pid=33392 won an award?

Is it just due to the high assist to turnover ratio or something?

Hey,

Is the that the only other pre-requisite to becoming a scoring PG? Or is it limited by height as well? Thats some good information though

It is due to the fact that he averaged 7pts and 7 assists.  I imagine that makes him qualify as as "scoring point guard."  I haven't looked at other players, but that is what I imagine.

The general thinking is that height has nothing to do with it.

Tesche- since you are in the grading mood....how about Walrus Jones9+ assists and 3.5+ Steals.....this player would never win an award, correct? Seems like a shame to me, and not just because he's mine.

Hmm a Pro C Jordan player with 37 ppg on first team?
Pro A with 40+ ppg am guess that is just sour grapes on my part

Not a single rebounder made first team in jordan, either.  Color me surprised.  :-/

A College-A player made Second Team; he had such an advantage on that level of competition down there that he averaged 13 blocks a game.

I agree, should, but won't win an award.  From the lists thekaz gave us way back when of positions for awards, there was no assist/defensive player hybrid, and it seems to take 4-5 steals to win a defensive award nowadays (mainly cause low pro and college players appear eligible...).

You know that I feel that those sort of hybrids should get additional consideration for MVP because you are basically filling two roles.  How is that not more valuable than a three-point shooter on a single scorer line?!

Funny you should say that.  The 3pt shooter is actually filling 2 roles as well (most teams have 2 scorers I mean).

That's pretty much it.

Scoring G = Flat out high volume scorer
Scoring PG = Points/Assists combo.

It's still only filling a single role.  Some teams choose to diversify their source of production to try to make it harder on teams to allocate their team skill points, but it is still a single role.

Ok, but how is funneling assists through base manipulation to a defender filling multiple roles?  Assists are not like other stats......
