Gym rat tournament

A gym rat season can be tedious and boring. This is my first time, and I'm thinking of organizing a mid-season tournament for the gym-ratting teams of Bird League to spice things up a little.

In particular, I'm looking for teams that would meet the ff. criteria by day 15:

- Full roster
- Everyone on the team has 2 GR and WW
- At least College B

If you're the captain of such a team and you're interested in participating, please let me know (and don't fill up your challenge queue past day 15). I'm hoping to get at least 6 teams.

Re: Gym rat tournament

Wonderful. We just need at least one more team.

Krishnasitlani, will your team have a full roster soon?

Re: Gym rat tournament

Excellent. With NDSU Bison also interested, I think we have enough teams to make it happen. Let's wait a day or two to see who else wants in, then we can start planning.

Re: Gym rat tournament

I'm thinking day 15, although I'm open to suggestion.

We can do a round-robin elimination round, then the top 4 teams can move on to a two-round playoffs with best-of-three series. With eight teams in the tournament, we can be done in 13 days or less.

Do you already have a bracket in place?
Day 15 sounds good and gives time to get things organized smile

Re: Gym rat tournament

Everyone will play everyone once in the round-robin elimination round. The playoff bracket will be determined by elimination round records.

Re: Gym rat tournament

I'll be honest, trying to organize this properly will be a bit of a train wreck...I'd suggest splitting it into two four-team divisions that will be round-robin, and then the best two teams from each division go to the knock-out round.

Re: Gym rat tournament

Actually, I'm more worried about the best-of-three series idea. Does anyone know whether CR allows two teams to play each other in challenge games more than twice in a season?

The round-robin shouldn't be a problem though as long as everyone follows the plan. But yeah, I guess splitting the teams into two divisions is an interesting idea too.

Re: Gym rat tournament

Lets take our time with this and get all the info needed 1st.Ask Kaz if its possible to allow tournament only teams to have enough challenges to complete a 4 round tourney.
Find a volunteer to make a bracket on bracketmaker. Then we can organize seeding for the tournament.

Re: Gym rat tournament

So now, we have a field of 8 teams--that's a good number. The participants are:

Eggsistential Crisis
Court Rivals Pride
Madd Thrashers
UNBA Globetrotters
Inner City Apostles - RETIRED
PINOY Veterans United
Jejemons
NDSU Bison

Please do not challenge or accept challenges from any of the teams on the list until we're ready to start the tournament.

Also, I just found out that you can play a specific team in challenge games only twice in a season. This means that our playoffs will have to be single elimination instead of best-of-three series.

Re: Gym rat tournament

Ya we could have gone live, but would've probly missed at least 2 level 6 chemistries, so it would have been all for nothing haha
