New Player Tutorial

Hello new players of Court Rivals,

First off, thank you for joining. Court Rivals is an expanding program that welcomes everybody into our system.

You’re probably wondering: “Ok, I joined, what do I do now?” Well, you probably want to create a player, to start your Court Rivals dynasty. The Create-A-Player screen should be fairly easy to find – you shouldn’t have any trouble with it. Update - it's automatic! Once you’re at that screen, you’re going to want to choose a name and position for your player. Here at Court Rivals, we only separate positions into “forward” or “guard”, to allow full customization of your player. So, pick one of your choice. After you select your position, you’re going to have to select your height. A list of your starting stats for each position and height are listed here.

Okay, so you’ve created your player. That’s the first step to becoming a Court Rivals legend. Next, you’ll probably want to join a team. If you start your own team, recruiting is pretty tough for lower teams, so I’d suggest joining an existing team. You could do this one of two ways – either search through the teams on the “standings” page, and PM the captain when you find a team you like. Or you can use the forums, post your player and a few details in the “Players Looking for Teams” Section, and you’ll probably get at least a few offers. If you don’t, you can go into “Teams looking for Players” and find a newer team around your skill level to join. Don’t set the demand too high – you won’t get too high of a team to start out with. But if you stay with training, you’ll get on a higher team.

That brings me to my next point – training. Training is essential to keep your player up-do-date and to keep your player putting up good stat lines. When you glance at your “gym” page, you’ll see your current skills and it’ll say “5:00” next to them, which indicates it takes 5 minutes to train that skill. You’ll have to decide what type of player you want to be – you can be a shooter, passer, defensive player, etc. whatever you want. Once you decide, you’re going to want to train your primary skill, whether it be shooting, defense, passing, or whatever. You’ll want to train up other skills, also, not just the one skill. You’ll also want to train endurance on your first day. Endurance has no impact on game performance, but it will affect your training credits you receive per day. For instance, if you have 11 endurance you will get 11 training credits per day, if you have 12 endurance you get 12 training credits per day, etc. This will be useful when your skills take a long time to train, when you use accelerated and intense training. You can find out how accelerated and intense training work here

Next, you’re going to probably want to post around the forums and post a introduction thread. Don’t be shy wink. Get to meet players around the forums, and ask for tips, questions, or whatever you need.

Next, you’re going to look at your sliders right under your attributes and where it says “skills”. First, look at your sliders. What type of player do you want to be? Find out about what sliders do and what they increase or decrease in this document. Also, you’re next objective is to look at your “skills”. Click on it. You’ll see a skill tree, and notice you have 0 points. This tree allows you to customize your player even further. Once you reach 300 points, and every 100 points after, you will receive a skill point to spend on a skill tree of the first tier that you like. Once you have 2 points in the first tier, you can put points in the next tier. Once you have 4 points in the first two tiers, you can put points in to the third tier.

Also, you’ll want to look at chemistries. Look at your team’s page. You’ll notice nothing’s listed next to your name on the roster. That’s because you don’t have chemistry. Train your main attribute to 60-70, and get a teammate to do the same, and you could be eligible form a chemistry. All chemistries are listed here. You and your partner must also be on the same team for 5 days.

That’s about all for now, I’ll add more when I think of it. Good luck!

Re: New Player Tutorial

Hope you don't mind Dukester the muffin stealer, but I cleaned up your post a little (just spacing out the paragraphs), and stickied this. It will be very useful for new or confused players. I figured you could add on and/or edit as you feel necessary, and maybe other players can help you along the way. Thanks for doing this!

Re: New Player Tutorial

Might as well clean up the spelling too smile    "weather it be shooting,"   should be "whether"  and "Once you have 4 points in the first two tears" - should be "tiers"

I suggested to already join an existing team, so I didn't feel the need to do that. smile
